Exotic wagers are theoretically more difficult to win but they also reap the benefits of higher payouts (aka making more money per bet). Each individual has to determine what type of betting gives them the most enjoyment when it "hits". 

Do you get a bigger adrenaline rush when a horse that you have researched and singled out in a race finishes first?

OR

Do you get a bigger adrenaline rush from knowing that you just hit a complicated wager that is going to pay you more money and the finishing order of the horses didn't matter to you as much?



Exotic Bets


Quinella -
Pick the first two horses in any order. 
Typical minimum bet is $2.


Exacta -
Pick the first two horses in exact order. 
Typical minimum bet is $2

Trifecta -
Pick the first three horses in exact order.
Typical minimum bet is $1.
You can also find $0.50 bets at selected tracks.

Superfecta -
Pick the first four horses in the exact order.
Typical minimum bet is $1.
You can also find $0.10 bets at selected tracks.

Daily Double -
Pick the winner of the first race and the winner of the second race.
This wager can typically be placed on either the first two or the last two races of day.


Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 6 -
Pick the winners in the first three, four, or six races.
Typical minimum bet is $0.50.
This wager will happen during selected races throughout the day.



Combination Wagers


To increase your chances of winning on any of the wagers above you will need to get creative by utilizing a combination bet. 

Box -
Pick multiple horses for a single race and as long as your horses come in the correct order then you win the bet.

ex.
Race 1 - Exacta Box - 2,3,5
The 2, 3, or 5 has to finish in first and second place. You Win!


Wheel -
Pick one horse to finish in first place and then put all the other horses in the remaining spots. 

ex.
1st Place:    2
2nd Place:  1,3,4,5,6


Part Wheel -
Pick one horse to finish in first place and then put some of the other horses in the remaining spots. 

ex.
1st Place:    2
2nd Place:  1,5,6
